Highland Elementary Celebrates First Color Week of the Year

Kindergarten classrooms at Highland Elementary School were magnificently monochromatic on September 12, as students and staff dressed in united shades of red to celebrate the end of the first “Color Week” of the school year.

Color Weeks are a long-standing tradition in Kindergarten, giving the youngest Huskies a fun and engaging way to explore objects, foods, and ideas that match each week’s featured color. Along the way, students also practice spelling and recognizing the corresponding color word—building early literacy skills through a playful, hands-on approach.

Families and fellow Highland students are encouraged to join in the fun by wearing each week’s color in support of the Kindergarten classes. This shared experience brings a sense of community to the school while reinforcing classroom learning.

Upcoming Color Days include:

  • September 19 – Yellow Day
  • September 26 – Blue Day
  • October 3 – Pink Day
  • October 10 – Green Day
  • October 17 – Purple Day
  • October 24 – Orange Day
  • October 30 – Black/White Day
  • November 7 – Brown Day
  • November 14 – Gray Day
  • November 21 – Silver/Gold Day

With each colorful celebration, Highland’s Kindergarteners are learning, growing, and building school spirit—one shade at a time.
