Grade 3 Students Bring Favorite Book Characters to Life

Reading took center stage at Highland Elementary School on May 21, when Grade 3 students participated in the school’s annual Book Character Parade.

As the culminating activity to their study of character development, students selected favorite book characters—ranging from classic storybook icons to modern-day heroes—and brought them to life through creative costumes and props. Carrying the books they represented, the young readers paraded through the halls to share their enthusiasm for literature with classmates, teachers, and staff.

The Grade 3 teachers also joined in the fun, dressing as characters from The Wizard of Oz and adding even more literary magic to the beloved tradition.

The event celebrated the joy of reading while encouraging students to make meaningful connections to the stories and characters they explored throughout the year.
