Grade 1 Students Leave Their Mark on International Dot Day

On September 15, Grade 1 students at Highland Elementary School celebrated International Dot Day, a global event that highlights creativity and self-expression. Inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, students explored the idea that even the smallest mark can make a difference.

Throughout the day, classrooms were filled with dot-themed activities. Students used small candies to construct colorful structures, transformed simple worksheets into unique works of art, and joined together in learning a special Dot Day song. They also collaborated on a large-scale art installation to be unveiled at a later date.

The celebration encouraged students to embrace their creativity, build confidence, and recognize the impact of their individual contributions. At Highland Elementary, Dot Day served as a reminder that imagination and self-expression are powerful tools for learning and growth.
